A colorless transparent liquid with a earthy odor, and containing trace amounts of phenols, it has a mint flavor. Impurities are light yellow in color and develop impurities over time, appearing in a water white to grayish yellow color with a strong pungent odor. Mixing with air has the same explosive polarity as open chain saturated ketones.
